Irk has no falling rain. This means that there cant be any flowing water like rivers and streams as they wouldnt be replenished by rain. This also means that there cant be any oceans for the water to flow to. As a result Irks water supply is in the form of numerous lakes. Sometimes these lakes can be of almost Sea size.
